SO it's almost July and here I sit banging away at my keyboard as usual, with one little difference. My kid is sitting across from me, playing legos. Lord of the Rings legos, actually. He wants to be the Witch-King. Dunno where he gets this stuff Anyway, with him here I haven't had a whole lot of time to write or read or think (or really do anything not kid-centric). I will probably have the next chapter bits out in 2-3 weeks, give or take a few days. I'm trying to institute a morning read/write time each day. He can read, I can write, you know xD
T and I have been all over the bay visiting beaches, theme parks, the zoo . . . I am sunburned and exhausted, but it's fun. I don't get a whole lot of time with him since moving to CA. It's been a bitter-sweet adventure this year. I knew what would happen when I let him choose where to live at the time of the move. I just didn't realize it would be so hard. Add to that some jerk-face tactics from my ex and it just rubs salt in the wounds. I don't think my kid will ever understand what I give up to keep him happy, or what I put up with either, but I think that's motherhood in general. So I'm taking this vacation with him for all it's worth and enjoying it as much as I can while I can before it's back to the grind.
Let's see, on projects, the comedy youtube mini-series is on hiatus since half the crew is working on some other script thing for the Austin Film Fest this year. I don't mind, since it gives me time to do other things. My book is puttering along. I've put so much into creating the world that will never make it into the story But it matters for me, to keep it logical and maintain the universe and characters through each piece of the story arc. It's a lot of work but I love it. Maybe one day I can write full time. Man, that's the dream isn't it?
For Heart and Home, I think there are about 10 chapters left in the outline. I am excited to finish it and will be sad to see it done all at the same time. I've been writing those characters for so long. The current portion of Strange Companions has maybe 3-4 chapters remaining but I've already started outlining the next adventure. I have some vague inspirations on DA:I that I've also begun to jot down, but still nothing concrete as an actual storyline. I also have an odd short story that I am cleaning up. It's quite a bit different than my usual fic and I can't decide if I like it or not. If it comes out decently, I'll post. If not, we'll pretend it never happened ^_^
Gaming is on hold while the kid is in town, unless you count lego games. Bookwise, I'm reading Sanderson's Mistborn series. Something to fill time while T swims and I hide in the shade. It's quite good, though not as good as the Way of Kings. Musically I guess I'm back to folk metal. It's a way to work out my stress, if nothing else. I think that's it for an update. Hugs to you all!
