tWR March Prompt: Prophecy

"We've gone over cards and runes. You're decent, I'll give you that." Ada nodded to her newest - and only - employee. Grace was a good kid. Young, sweet faced, big dark eyes. Long blonde hair. Not the best look for this kind of con, but enough to work with. They'd have to fine a good angle. She reapplied her eyeliner as they talked. "Do you want me to work on the astrology charts next?" Grace was good at those. Mapping out convincing connections, writing them in little, organized paragraphs. She even used real astronomical star charts. "Nah, we'll get to our correspondence customers later. This morning is a crystal reading." Ada raised an eyebrow. "You know how that one works?" "Sure. You gaze into the crystal ball and see possible futures, right?" "Mhmm." Ada retouched her lipstick before fully replying. "Can't have you there to see my techniques in front of a client but we don't need a client to practice." She gestured toward her cabinet with her head. Grace pulled one of

Call of the Rift: Veil, Chapter 1

“Salmon? That’s what you’re looking forward to?” My cousin Dunehein laughed behind me in the canoe stern. “Thought you’d say your friends or a proper bed.” “Not just any salmon.” My muscles strained with each stroke of the paddle. Droplets streamed off the wood. “Hot from the smokehouse, oily, flaky, and steaming, with that sweet, hazy scent of burnt alder.” Right now, all I could taste was salt. Seaspray kept my leggings and shirt constantly damp. To our right, snow-capped cliffs rose like crooked walls. To our left, the inlet’s far bank was a green smudge wreathed b

and April said,

I will bring you spring but it will cost you. I will be the teeth at your neck when you raise your face towards the sun, flower dearest; there will be no safety in my warmth. I will bring you death and you will bow your head and say thank you, for those lessons learned. Bend your body, unfurl your tears for a pantheon of uncaring gods. True prayer means despair, true prayer wrenches at the soul. I will bring you time, will unfreeze you from the spot of shock that you're in; you will know fear, will taste it on your tongue, salty, crunchy, nauseating (you won't be able to swallow it). I will bring you something new, something old, will wrap it all up in gold; and you won't know what to do with any of it. You will be lost. That will be the beauty. I will bring you spring but it will cost you everything.

Coming soon to a page near you! Or . . . your page, actually. The SIDEBAR. It's a new way to navigate in deviantArt, making new posts from active users and groups easy to see. Right now, it's still being developed and I am lucky enough to get to beta it. AND I can finally share some screenies and thoughts about it. So here we go! When you're on your home page, the sidebar is collapsed but visible on the left side of the screen. This makes it easy to click between deviants you watch, daily deviations, topics, popular, and new deviations. The icons for the groups you watch are also listed, and those with new posts get a red alert dot: You might notice I circled the 3 horizontal lines on the top next to the deviantArt logo/home icon. That's what you click to expand the sidebar. When you do, it'll look like this: I'm so excited to see so many of the groups I watch are active! If I click the group icon, I can view group posts and deviations. If there are new deviations, there will

Hey I'm Robert, I saw that you were tagged in the Writing Train May Check In.

Since I want to popularise myself I'm reaching out to professionals and artists of many varieties.

I thought I'd recount a poem I wrote. Would you judge it for me?

"

Time in place,

No rest nor haste.

Acquired tastes, always taste.

The sweetest, the needful.. contrarian people.

" - Robert Michael Dudley Esquire

Loved it ^_^ You know Lovecraft wrote poems too. That guy xD I'm playing a Lovecraft based game atm and it is a trip.

I feel like anything to do with Lovecraft is a trip....

Did you watch Lovecraft Country, by the by? I might not be brave enough for it.

I have not watched it YET but I did read it. It was very intense, and an interesting use of actual historical horror with a layer of cosmic horror behind it. They managed to juggle both without minimizing or deflating the tension of either.
