tWR 01/2021 Prompt: Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish

Like anything that matters, it started with a flame. Small as the struck match tip, giving off light and warmth commensurate with that size. Insignificant, at first glance. But fires are ambitious, hungry devils. That tiny fire crept up the pile of cloth, smoking in earnest before the whole pile caught. A bonfire of blue jeans and t-shirts, flannel jackets, and warm socks. It smelled awful. Jeannie watched the pile, letting the blaze turn her cheeks and nose red. Her eyes streamed with tears, from smoke, she told herself. She wasn't the kind of woman that cried easily, so it couldn't be that. Wouldn't have a thing to do with the hole in her heart that made her chest ache. That sense of loss that caught her unawares at the most inconvenient times. When she made coffee and set out two mugs. Then had to put one away. Or when she turned on the sofa to look to her left, the flattened blue cushion now empty. No one to chat serial theories with. No one to commiserate over the madness on

FFM 23: A Story About Loon

The loon is a familiar sight, with its long black neck ringed with white. However, the loon did not always have a long neck. Loon had a neck similar to Wood Duck, with a short neck and bill used to skim the water for small fish and bugs. Loon looked on with envy at other birds with longer necks who could dive, like Goose, Swan, and Crane. She just wanted to see all the wonders underneath the lake and catch big fish. Loon asked all of the other birds for advice on how to get a long neck like theirs. They told her that if she dived enough, maybe it would grow longer. One day, Loon was diving in the lake. Even though it was difficult for her

- Fleuve Indien - éternellement, Je Le Sais... Je Sais Tellement Depuis Le Fond de Toi... Ce Dont Tu as Vraiment Besoin... C'est Tellement Inscrit En Toi... En Ton Cœur, En Ton âme, En Ton Esprit... C'est Tellement Gravé Dans Le Cœur de Moi... éternellement, Je Le Sais... Tu n'en as Jamais Assez... ...Tu es Un Trou Béant Sans Fond... ...Tellement Insatiable... Et Mon électricité Cardiaque... Coming soon to a page near you! Or . . . your page, actually. The SIDEBAR. It's a new way to navigate in deviantArt, making new posts from active users and groups easy to see. Right now, it's still being developed and I am lucky enough to get to beta it. AND I can finally share some screenies and thoughts about it. So here we go! When you're on your home page, the sidebar is collapsed but visible on the left side of the screen. This makes it easy to click between deviants you watch, daily deviations, topics, popular, and new deviations. The icons for the groups you watch are also listed, and those with new posts get a red alert dot: You might notice I circled the 3 horizontal lines on the top next to the deviantArt logo/home icon. That's what you click to expand the sidebar. When you do, it'll look like this: I'm so excited to see so many of the groups I watch are active! If I click the group icon, I can view group posts and deviations. If there are new deviations, there will

Hey I'm Robert, I saw that you were tagged in the Writing Train May Check In.

Since I want to popularise myself I'm reaching out to professionals and artists of many varieties.

I thought I'd recount a poem I wrote. Would you judge it for me?

"

Time in place,

No rest nor haste.

Acquired tastes, always taste.

The sweetest, the needful.. contrarian people.

" - Robert Michael Dudley Esquire

Loved it ^_^ You know Lovecraft wrote poems too. That guy xD I'm playing a Lovecraft based game atm and it is a trip.

I feel like anything to do with Lovecraft is a trip....

Did you watch Lovecraft Country, by the by? I might not be brave enough for it.

I have not watched it YET but I did read it. It was very intense, and an interesting use of actual historical horror with a layer of cosmic horror behind it. They managed to juggle both without minimizing or deflating the tension of either.
